On board were owners Roy and Marlene Verdery, and two friends as crew: George Rab and Patrick McIntosh. We (Roy and Marlene) couldn't have been luckier with crew selection. We sailed, fished, partied with other crews at the stops along with way, but most of all, we laughed our way down to the Cape. There were two themes that kept us in stitches as Pat and George played lines off each other. The first was how many bottles of the "good" wine we could drink (rather than keeping them hidden for our personal use), and the second was how I (Marlene) served gruel for supper. I had done so on the night of the big front - Roy was sick, the boat was pounding in heavy seas and it was so cold we were all in heavy foul weather gear. I asked George and Pat if they'd like something hot for dinner, like canned soup. I even suggested oatmeal. They heartily agreed to the oatmeal and while devouring it said it just "hit the spot." Well those spots kept us in stitches for several days -- they loved telling everyone they met about how they were served gruel for dinner on Jellybean.....

We never tired of the sunsets; this is one of the first we saw. They grew in intensity as we sailed south.
The first leg of the voyage took two and a half days, culminating at Turtle Bay. This link will take you to pictures taken along the way plus a few photos in town and several photos taken at the now famous annual Turtle Bay Beach Party.
The second leg took the fleet to Bahia Santa Maria, just on the outside of Magdalena Bay. Enroute we ate lots of freshly caught fish. When we arrived, we collected sand dollars, had live music at the beach party and rested up for the final leg taking us to Cabo San Lucas.
On the third leg we wore shorts, used lots of sunblock, and laughed non-stop. Photos on this link include shots from Cabo itself.
